Road Warriors win again

Oct. 3—KEENE, N.. H. — Niall O'Brien scored the go- ahead goal 15 minutes into the second half and the Eastern Connecticut State University men's soccer team stayed undefeated on the road with a 3- 2 Little East Conference victory on Saturday over Keene State.

O'Brien, a first- year midfielder, put the Warriors ( 5- 2- 1 overall, 2- 2- 0 league) ahead 2- 1 and Caleb Enin came off the bench to score a key insurance goal with 8: 29 remaining.

That goal loomed large after the Owls (3-6-1, 1-20) scored 11 seconds later on a goal by Nicholas Henao Vasquez.

Walter Scudder put ECSU ahead 1- 0 in the 19th minute.

Nathan Yeich had four of his six saves after halftime to pick up his fifth win in six decisions as the Warriors improved to 4-0-2 on the road.

Eastern visits defending Division III national champion Connecticut College on Tuesday at 4 p. m.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Katelyn Herbert and Lindsay Fishman scored goals in lifting ECSU to a 2- 0 Little East victory over Keene State at Rick McCarthy Field.

Herbert gave the Warriors ( 4- 3- 2 overall, 2- 2- 0 league) a 1- 0 lead with her third goal of the season 25:35 into the first half and Fishman wrapped up the scoring with 1: 27 left in the game with an assist from Dani Rovalino.

Rachel Hughes faced one shot, denying Keene State's Amanda Marshall on a breakaway in the first five minutes, and recorded her first win in goal while playing 70 minutes. Emily Wallace closed things out over the final 20 minutes.

The Owls fell to 5- 5- 1 overall and 1-2 in the Little East.

Eastern hosts Connecticut College in a non- conference match Tuesday at 6 p. m.

FIELD HOCKEY

Emma Sanson scored for ECSU in a 3-1 LEC loss to Plymouth State at Rick McCarthy Field.

Leah Kowalasky assisted on Sanson's fifth goal of the season with 1: 45 remaining in the first quarter to put the Warriors ( 3- 6 overall, 1-4 league) up 1-0.

The lead was shortlived as Taylor Healey and Athena Comeau scored goals 61 seconds apart early in the second quarter to put the Panthers (6-3, 4- 1) ahead to stay.

Healey scored her second goal of the game and 15th of the season in the third quarter.

VOLLEYBALL

Five players had double- digit kill totals as ECSU remained unbeaten in six home matches at Geissler Gymnasium with a 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18 LEC victory over Keene State.

Anna Barry ( 17 kills), Bella Johnson ( 15 kills), Nayeli Cruz Martinez ( 10 kills), Paige Savitsky (10 kills) and Sadie Blackwell ( 10 kills) paced the Warriors ( 10- 3 overall, 3- 1 league). Meg Verrizzi added 44 assists and Paula Perez 18 digs.

ECSU faces Eastern Nazarane College in a non- conference road match on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
