MONROE COUNTY — Following are upcoming road construction projects for the week of Dec. 18 in Monroe County. All work is weather permitting:

City of Monroe:

Elm and Macomb sink hole repair: Salenbien Trucking & Excavating of Dundee will assist the city with repair of a sink hole in the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Elm Avenue and Macomb Street. This will require the closure of westbound Elm traffic and likely southbound Macomb Street traffic for the duration of the work, which is expected to occur on Wednesday and Thursday. The official posted detour will be to divert truck traffic from Dixie Highway south on Winchester Street to Front Street west to Monroe Street north and back to Elm Avenue. Local traffic will still be able to use Elm, but all traffic must turn at Macomb Street. Southbound Macomb traffic will be detoured at Noble Avenue.

Motorists should expect some changes to the above, depending on the extents of the repairs necessary.

Monroe County:

Berlin Township: U.S. Turnpike between North Dixie Highway and Sigler Road. Alpine Tree Service will be performing tree removals and trimming. The road will be closed to through traffic when work is being performed; however, flaggers will maintain access for local traffic, school buses and emergency vehicles. A detour route will not be posted because of the short duration of the road closure.

Erie Township: Erie Road between Strasburg Road and Minx Road. Alpine Tree Service will be performing tree removals and trimming. The road will be closed to through traffic when work is being performed; however, flaggers will maintain access for local traffic, school buses and emergency vehicles. A detour route will not be posted because of the short duration of the road closure.

Frenchtown Township: Hurd Road between M-125 and Vivian. Road Alpine Tree Service will be performing tree removals and trimming. The road will be closed to through traffic when work is being performed; however, flaggers will maintain access for local traffic, school buses and emergency vehicles. A detour route will not be posted because of the short duration of the road closure.

Ida/LaSalle townships: Minx Road South of Stein Road. The tile crew will install two cross tiles this week. The road will be closed to through traffic. Due to low traffic volume, there will be no posted detour.
