Following is a list of upcoming road construction projects across Monroe County:

Ash Township

Carleton Rockwood Road between I-275 and Briar Hill Road

RAM Construction Services is scheduled to apply a silane treatment on the Carleton Rockwood Road bridge over Swan Creek. One-lane, two-way traffic will be maintained with traffic regulators when work is being performed.

Bedford Township

Chip Seal Projects

The following roads are scheduled to be chip sealed during the upcoming week. The roads will be closed to through traffic while crews are working, and the roads will be swept the following day. Motorists are encouraged to travel at the advisory speed limit of 25 mph until the chip seal surface has been swept.

  • Crabb – Dean to Erie

  • Crabb – Sterns to Dean

  • Smith – Township Line to Whiteford Center

Lavoy Road between US-24 (Telegraph Road) and M-125 (South Dixie Highway)

RAM Construction Services is scheduled to apply a silane treatment on the Lavoy Road bridge over Indian Creek. One-lane, two-way traffic will be maintained with traffic regulators when work is being performed.

Summerfield Road between Sterns Road and Secor Road

South County Water System will be installing a new water main along Summerfield Road between Sterns Road and Secor Road. During the water main work, Summerfield Road will be closed to through traffic between Sterns Road and Secor Road. The signed detour for the road closure will utilize Sterns Road and Secor Road.

Erie Township

Chip Seal Projects

The following road is scheduled to be chip sealed during the upcoming week. The road will be closed to through traffic while crews are working, and the road will be swept the following day. Motorists are encouraged to travel at the advisory speed limit of 25 mph until the chip seal surface has been swept.

  • Sterns – M-125 to Summit

Summit Street Bridge between Sterns Road and State Line

Miller Bros. will begin deck work on the east half of the bridge carrying Summit Street over Shantee Creek. Two-lane, two-way traffic will be maintained throughout work activities utilizing a temporary paved lane in the shoulder of Summit Street and a lane shift. All work is weather permitting

Exeter Township

Scofield Carleton Road between Sumpter Road and Finzel Road

Miller Bros. and Cadillac Asphalt are to begin next week on Scofield Road between Sumpter Road and Finzel Road. It will include aggregate and crush and shaping in preparation for the hot mix asphalt overlay. The road will be closed to through traffic. All work is weather permitting.

Milan Township

Wabash Road between Cone Road and Redman Road

RAM Construction Services is scheduled to apply a silane treatment on the Wabash Road bridge over North Macon Creek. Wabash Road will be closed to through traffic when the work is being performed. No detour route will be posted for this road closure due to the low traffic volume and short duration of the closure.

City of Monroe

West Willow Street reconstruction - Godfroy to Monroe

G.V. Cement Contracting of Brownstown Township is the City’s contractor for roadway concrete paving work for 2022, and they are reconstructing this entire roadway with new curb and gutter, plus the adjacent sidewalks and all drives. Mainline paving has now been completed, and the roadway is open. For the coming week, the contractor plans to complete remaining drive approaches and sidewalk ramps.

Orchard Drive reconstruction

G.V. Cement is reconstructing the section between Macomb and Riverview in new 8” concrete, including curbs and driveway approaches. During the construction this roadway may at times be closed entirely to all traffic. The mainline pavement and all drive approaches on the north side of the roadway have been completed and can be opened to traffic early next week, and for the coming week, the contractor expects to place new concrete on the south half of the street.

Avenue De LaFayette at North Custer reconstruction

G.V. Cement will be replacing the pavement on Avenue de Lafayette at the entrance to the subdivision at North Custer Road. This is only a spot closure at the intersection, but Avenue de Lafayette may be closed at times within 100 feet of the intersection, and there may be occasional lane shifts on North Custer Road. For the coming week, the contractor expects to pour the east half of the intersection approach, and open the west half to traffic.

Riverview Avenue resurfacing/reconstruction

The resurfacing / reconstruction of Riverview Avenue between Maywood Avenue and Cole Road is this year’s Federal project for the City of Monroe. The work will consist of milling and paving of the top 3 inches of asphalt between Maywood and Oakwood, and reconstruction / repairs of the worst sections of concrete between Oakwood and Cole.  Cadillac Asphalt of Romulus is the prime contractor, and Merlo Construction of Milford is the concrete subcontractor.  In addition to the resurfacing work, curbs and associated drive approaches will be replaced on both sides between Maywood and Linwood, and on the west side between Linwood and Greenwood. For the coming week, the concrete subcontractor is planning to continue to pour back curbs and drive approaches that have been removed. There will be mostly spot lane closures, though there may be some times when individual blocks are completely closed.

Pavement markings program

JV Contracting of Goodrich, Michigan will be replacing a large number of pavement markings City-wide, including crosswalks, stop bars, turn arrows, etc. They plan to work this coming week, which will involve spot lane closures on a number of roadways city-wide. Their work is likely to last through the middle of August.

Summerfield Township

Petersburg Road between Ida West Road and McCarty Road

RAM Construction Services is scheduled to apply an epoxy overlay on the Petersburg Road bridge over River Raisin. One-lane, two-way traffic will be maintained with traffic regulators when work is being performed.

Whiteford Township.

Chip Seal Project

The following roads are scheduled to be chip sealed during the upcoming week. The roads will be closed to through traffic while crews are working, and the roads will be swept the following day. Motorists are encouraged to travel at the advisory speed limit of 25 mph until the chip seal surface has been swept.

  • Flanders – Village Limits to Carriage Lane

  • Head O Lake – Consear to Creque

  • Roloff – Turk to Sylvania Petersburg

  • Section – Turk to Sylvania Petersburg

  • Temperance – 1760’ West bound lane only to Head O Lake

  • Turk – Yankee to Sterns

  • Wadsworth – Consear to Dead End

  • Whiteford – State Line to Sterns

  • Yankee – Clark to Memorial Highway

  • Yankee – Memorial Highway to Sylvania Petersburg
