Rob Schneider, veteran of “Saturday Night Live” and noted Friend of Adam Sandler, has shot a movie in Arizona.

The comedy veteran wrote, directed, produced and stars in “Daddy Daughter Trip,” which also features his daughter Miranda Scarlett Schneider in her first acting role. The film is a “heart-warming adventure/comedy” that incorporates live action and animation, according to a release.

Miranda Schneider plays a second-grader with dreams “of a fun-filled spring break vacation her family can’t afford,” the release says. They go on the trip anyway. After a series of misadventures “their vacation is saved when the duo meet a pair of well-connected travel bloggers.”

It also stars several Arizona landmarks.

Arizona locations shown in the film, according to the release, include Butterfly Wonderland, Bearizona Wildlife Park, Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Park and Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch on the banks of the Salt River.

The film also features Also Basha’s Grocery Chain, Changing Hands Bookstore, Agritopia and the Arizona Boardwalk, among other Arizona businesses.

It wasn't tax credits that drew Schneider to Arizona

Interestingly, the film was completed before a new law went into effect that will offer tax credits to films, TV and commercial productions that film primarily in Arizona, and qualify for the incentives.

Schneider announced in December of 2020 that he and his family had moved from California to Arizona.

“My wife Patricia and I chose to make the great state of Arizona our home to raise our family not just for its incredible natural majesty and beauty but also for all that it has to offer,” he says in the release.

“Our company, Mandalini Films, is now based in Scottsdale and we are very proud to have made our film, ‘Daddy Daughter Trip’ entirely here in Arizona. It’s truly a postcard for the state’s picturesque cinematic locations. We are grateful to the people of Arizona for their support and generosity of spirit in what we hope is the first of many family-friendly films we want to make right here in our new home.”
