Robber attacks woman on Blue Line platform, punches her, steals purse on Near West Side

Chicago police are searching for a man who punched a woman in the head and took her purse at the CTA “L” Blue Line Racine station on the Near West Side early Saturday.

About 2:50 a.m. at the station, 430 S. Racine Ave., the man approached her from behind and punched her in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, police said. While on the ground, he continued to punch her and took her purse.

The only description of the attacker police gave was an African American man, between 40 and 50 years of age, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and 180 to 190 pounds.
