Robbie Binnicker retires after working as superintendent of Anderson School District One

After spending 34 years working in Anderson School District 1, Superintendent Robbie Binnicker has announced his retirement.

He has served as superintendent since 2018 and will retire at the end of the school year.

"I have accomplished everything I can in the district," Binnicker said. "I believe it's time for new leadership here."

School board members are searching for Binnicker's successor.

"The board could potentially fill the position from within the district rather than conduct a national, regional, or state search for the next superintendent," Binnicker said. "We have a large pool of qualified internal candidates with the skill and qualifications necessary to lead the district."

Binnicker said this was the best time to retire because his son is graduating from high school this year, and he and his wife are ready to start the next chapter in their lives. He said they would move to the Charleston coast.

He thanked everyone for their support throughout his time in the district.

"I'm confident that the district will continue to thrive in the years to come," he said.
