Robbie Williams has announced that his planned 2020 album has been delayed until next year because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The singer had been working on new, disco-inspired music with Guy Chambers, who was responsible for songs like 'Feel', 'Let Me Entertain You', 'Rock DJ', 'She's the One' and 'Angels'.

But now Guy has told The Sun that they haven't been able to finish the album because of logistics, stating: "[Robbie] does want to do another record, but obviously we can't because of the situation. He's in Los Angeles and no-one can fly to America."

While other musicians have recorded new albums remotely, such as Kylie Minogue (who Robbie did 'Kids' with) with her disco album Disco, that hasn't been the case here.

"Our relationship doesn't work in different countries," Guy explained. "We have to be in the same room together to create."

The album would have been Robbie's first full studio album of new songs since 2016's The Heavy Entertainment Show. Last year he topped the album charts with The Christmas Present, which contained a smattering of surprisingly great new Xmas songs with some covers of festive favourites.
