Robert Cyrus hired as Watertown airport manager

Robert Cyrus has been hired as the new manager of the Watertown Regional Airport.

He will join the Public Works management team in June, according to a news release from the city.

Cyrus, who currently lives in Watertown, was most recently the military and family readiness specialist for the South Dakota Army National Guard for the past two years. He moved to Watertown after serving in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years.

While in the Air Force, Cyrus served as electrical and environmental systems supervisor, aviation supervisor, aviation manager and, most recently, senior aviation and program manager at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii where he managed as many as 900 people who supported the operation of nine flight lines with more than 300 airplanes.

Cyrus has a bachelor's in human resource management and master's in business administration from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Ala. He also has an associate's degree in aviation/aerospace science from the Community College of the Air Force in Montgomery, Ala.

Cyrus and his wife, Stephanie, have three children.
