Building His Career
Since he broke away from being a teen heartthrob in franchises like Harry Potter and Twilight, Robert Pattinson has been building up a strange and varied career. Pattinson has carved out a niche for success that has him growing a wild mustache for The Lighthouse and then suiting up as Batman in the upcoming reboot of the iconic superhero.
You never know what Pattison is going to do next in his career, and he's always looking to shed his leading man image and disappear into a role.
Fond Memories
While he may have left the teen movies behind, Pattinson has only nice things to say about Harry Potter. Pattinson appeared as tragic Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and he recently told Kristien Gijbels for the podcast HFPA In Conversation that he has only fond memories of that time in his career.
"It was a really nice environment on Harry Potter. Even compared to movies I've done since, it was very protective. The way the kids were treated...In Harry Potter they were at school and they were kind of doing work at the same time. It felt like a very friendly family environment."
Why He's An Actor
Pattinson also claimed that Potter was the reason he kept acting and explained how the press tour for the film was so eye opening for him.
"It was amazing.I remember going to Tokyo for the first time, and sitting in my room looking out over the city and being like, 'How has this happened?' I really like that movie...I wouldn't be acting if it wasn't for that."
Compared to how he behaved on the Twilight press tours, this sounds like a pretty stark difference.
He's Even Warmed To Twilight
However, Pattinson has even softened towards the franchise that made him a household name. When he was asked about the 10th anniversary of Twilight, he had kind things to say about the movies and the dedicated fans.
"It seems like with younger people in their late teens, early 20s, it's sort of become quite a hip thing to like. It's a fascinating second wave of people appreciating it, which is kind of cool. I think when anything becomes a massive phenomenon, there's always people who get annoyed because it's just everywhere. But now it seems like a retro thing: the soundtrack, the fashion. It's like, 'Oh, that's so late 2000s.'
It's lovely now that the mania is not so intense. People come up (to me) and just have very fond memories of it. It's a really sweet thing. I think the only scary part was right in the thick of it all, when it was very, very intense. Now the intensity has died down and it's just very warm memories."
