Robke's In Northport Loses Liquor License After Repeat Violations

NORTHPORT, NY —Robke's, the Italian restaurant in Northport that draws long waits for its no reservation, cash-only dining, had its liquor license revoked this week after repeated violations of COVID-19 regulations. The restaurant was cited on December 9 for staff not wearing face masks, and a lack of physical distancing between tables and patrons at the bar.

Last Saturday, an inspector from the New York State liquor authority witnessed a crowded bar area, food being served after 10 p.m. and tables not distanced six feet apart.

Now the restaurant will have to settle the fine with the liquor authority before being able to serve alcohol again.

Restaurant owner Louis Selvaggio Jr. told Newsday that on the night the inspector showed up "it was freezing cold. There was a massive line of people standing in the parking lot. I have a hard time telling a 75-year-old guy who’s been a customer for 20 years that he has to wait outside."

A kitchen staff member was also reportedly photographed in the kitchen not wearing a face mask.
