Roche Bros. announces ‘price lock’ to mark 70 years in business

Local grocer Roche Bros. is marking its 70th anniversary in business by temporarily locking in prices on some of its most popular items.

Roche Bros. says grocery prices are up 13 percent from a year ago and the company is “extending a hand to the communities that have welcomed its stores over the past seven decades.”

The price lock took effect Wednesday and will remain in effect until November 17, just before the Thanksgiving holiday.

The company says the move will put a freeze on the prices of more than 500 items like bread, milk, laundry detergent, and snacks like chips and ice cream.

Roche Bros opened its first store in 1952 in Roslindale. It now operated 16 Roche Bros. stores and four Brothers Marketplace locations in 19 cities and towns across New England.

The list of products affected by the price lock is here.
