A Rochester favorite will close out the 2023 CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival with a free headlining show in the heart of downtown.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will take the Wegmans Stage at Parcel 5 at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 1, for the finale of the event, which this year marks its 20th year.

The news was shared at a Tuesday morning press conference, where festival organizers revealed the complete lineup.

Previously, 13-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Bonnie Raitt was announced as one of the ticketed headliners for 2023.

Her 8 p.m. concert Tuesday, June 27, in Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre, 26 Gibbs St., is sold out.

Jazz guitarist Pat Metheny already had been announced as a headlining act, too. Tickets to his 8 p.m. Friday, June 23, show in Kodak Hall are still available at rochesterjazz.com and start at $43, plus service charges.

On Tuesday, organizers said five-time Grammy-winning blues legend Keb’ Mo’ will headline a Kodak Hall show at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 24, and that Cuban vocalist Omara Portuondo, who since 1996 has sung with the Buena Vista Social Club, will play the venue at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 25.

Tickets for both shows (starting at $43 and $33, respectively, plus service charges) will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 24, at rochesterjazz.com.

Besides Trombone Shorty (Troy Andrews), who has played the fest seven other times and always draws large crowds — including in 2015 during a downpour — the free headliner shows are:

∎ St. Paul & the Broken Bones at 9 p.m. Saturday, June 24, on the City of Rochester Stage at East Avenue and Chestnut Street.

∎ Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers at 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, on Parcel 5.

∎ Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 29, on Parcel 5.

∎ The Artimus Pyle Band at 9 p.m. Friday, June 30, on Parcel 5.

The festival kicks off Friday, June 23, and runs through Saturday, July 1. This year’s venues include Hatch Recital Hall, the Hyatt Ballroom, Kilbourn Hall, Glory House International, the Little Theatre, Max of Eastman Place, Montage Music Hall, the Rochester Regional Health Big Tent (near East Main and Gibbs streets), the Temple Building Theater, the Theater at Innovation Square and the Wilder Room.

Nine-day Club Passes ($294, plus a $6 service fee) and three-day Club Passes ($234, plus a $6 service fee), which are sharable and transferable, are available at rochesterjazz.com.

New this year is three-day student Club Passfor students 25 and younger ($174, plus a $6 service fee). Those will only be sold in person starting Monday, June 19, at the jazz fest ticket shop, 100 East Ave. at the corner of Gibbs Street, and buyers will have to show student ID.

A record 210,000 people attended the 2022 festival, organizers said, following a two-year hiatus forced by the coronavirus pandemic. All of last year's headlining shows were presented free of charge on Parcel 5.

The 2023 event will feature 300 shows by 1,750 artists.
