Rochester Middle School closed due to bomb threat

ROCHESTER — Rochester Middle School is closed Friday following a bomb threat, according to Kyle Repucci, the city's superintendent of schools.

There is "no evidence that the threat is credible," Repucci's announcement states, adding the decision to close the middle school "was made out of an abundance of caution."

Repucci said Rochester school officials received an e-mail Friday morning "stating a generic threat that the school would be bombed." He said it was immediately reported to police.

Parents were initially informed of the closure in a notice from Ryan Gilpatrick, the school's principal, who reported a "life safety situation" had prompted a response from city police and firefighters.

The Rochester Middle School closure comes a day after Portsmouth schools were closed due to a threat at the city's high school, resulting in an arrest of the suspect.
