Rochester office shooting suspect Haydee River-Nadeau heading back to NH to face charges

ROCHESTER — Haydee Rivera-Nadeau, 65, of Somersworth, accused of shooting another woman in the head in a Rochester office building, waived extradition Friday from North Carolina. This paves the way for her to be returned to New Hampshire to face charges.

Rochester police Capt. Andrew Swanberry said he had no update Friday on the condition of the victim, who was in Portsmouth Regional Hospital in critical condition a day earlier.

A woman was shot in the head at the Professional Arts Centre office building at 40 Winter St. in Rochester Monday, May 1, 2023, according to police.

Rivera-Nadeau allegedly fled to the area of Charlotte in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina after shooting a 50-year-old woman in the head at the Professional Arts Centre office building at 40 Winter St. on May 1. She was arrested May 3.

"I cannot comment on the relation between the two at this time, but can say we quickly identified the suspect," Swanberry said previously.

Rivera-Nadeau is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and attempted second-degree murder, as well as being a fugitive from justice. Rivera-Nadeau was being held at Mecklenburg County jail, following her arraignment in Mecklenburg County District Court on Thursday, May 4.
