Police said the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at officers.
CINDY HSU: Developing this morning. An investigation is underway upstate in Rochester after police shot and killed a suspect they say shot at officers. The deadly shooting happened on Friday as officers were trying to take the suspect into custody. One officer hurt his arm when he fell during the incident. The suspect's name has not been released though the interim police chief says the man has been involved in several shootings and was a high risk.
CYNTHIA HERRIOTT-SULLIVAN: The individual pulled out a gun and fired at the officers. They returned fire and he was subsequently injured and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
CINDY HSU: The chief says the officers belong to a specialized unit and were not wearing body cameras. They have been placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.
