Rochester Regional Health has temporarily closed some urgent care, lab locations

Update: An earlier version of this story reported that RRH had announced the temporary closure of 19 local health care offices on Wednesday. Many of those closures occurred earlier in the pandemic. The closure of the Immediate Care location in Penfield was the only new closure announced on Wednesday.

Rochester Regional Health has announced the temporary closure of its Immediate Care center in Penfield. The move comes as the rising number of COVID-19 patients has strained local health care networks.

To date, RRH has closed 19 laboratory centers, urgent care clinics, and at least one primary care office. The closed locations are:

  • Imaging Center - North Greece

  • Immediate Care - Brighton

  • Immediate Care - Irondequoit

  • Immediate Care - North Greece

  • Immediate Care - Penfield (Closed week of Jan. 3)

  • Laboratory Service Center - Genesee Country Mall

  • Laboratory Service Center - 30 Linden Oaks

  • Laboratory Service Center - Brockport Medical Campus

  • Laboratory Service Center - Greece (Parkway Campus)

  • Laboratory Service Center - Greece (W. Ridge Road)

  • Laboratory Service Center - Leroy Medical Campus

  • Laboratory Service Center - Clifton/Newark

  • Laboratory Service Center - Pembroke

Rochester Regional Health has already postponed all non-essential elective inpatient, 23 hour and same-day elective hospital surgeries and procedures at Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital, effective Dec. 9. This is in compliance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health which requires hospitals to take that step if more than 90% of their beds are occupied.

Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is not on the NYS DOH “impacted facility” list; however, Rochester Regional decided to suspend inpatient elective surgeries there.

United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia suspended all non-essential elective inpatient, 23-hour and same-day elective hospital surgeries and procedures for at least two weeks effective Dec. 23.

At this time, Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, office-based procedures and ambulatory surgery centers are not impacted.

This is a developing story. Check back later for more details.
