Rochester woman wakes up to midnight burglar

Apr. 25—ROCHESTER — An elderly woman found a burglar rifling through her purse for cash after midnight Thursday, April 25, 2024.

According to a report from the Rochester Police Department, dispatch received a call from a 70-year-old victim at about 12:25 a.m. Thursday. The woman reported a burglar in her home in the 3900 block of Superior Drive Northwest.

According to the report, the victim heard noises in her kitchen and noticed the window had been opened. When she saw a man taking money from her purse, she yelled for help and the man fled.

A short time later, officers detained a suspect in a nearby area. Charges of first-degree burglary and more are pending against an 18-year-old Rochester man.
