Rochester's must-attend food, wine, and beer events in July

June is almost over and is it me, or does it feel like summer hasn't really gotten started? The weather has been coolish and then there's the gloomy smoke from Canada that has proven to be persistent.

Fortunately, there are plenty of food events on the horizon for when summer finally does arrive, fingers crossed, in July. Here are some promising possibilities.

Casa Larga Patio Parties: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 13, 20 and 27 at Casa Larga Vineyards, 2287 Turk Hill Road in Perinton. Live music, vineyard views, food trucks. $15 includes a glass of wine, beer, or sangria. Bring a chair. casalarga.com.

Finger Lakes Wine Festival: July 8 to 9 at Watkins Glen International, 2790 County Route 16, Watkins Glen. The festival includes wine, food vendors, wine seminars, cooking demos, live music, pace car rides and more. Camping is available. $70 for weekend, $50 for Sunday only. flwinefest.com.

Sodus Rolling Stoves: 4 to 8 p.m. July 10 at Sodus Fireman's Field, 48 Mill St. in Sodus. More than a dozen food trucks and food vendors as well as craft vendors, face painting and pony rides. Live music from Steve Wickham and Parker Brothers. waynecountytourism.com.

Midday Bash: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, July 12 and 26, at Parcel 5, 285 E. Main St. downtown. Rotating lineup of food trucks, live music, games and fitness activities. Open 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Free admission. rochesterdowntown.com.

Celebrating Chocolate Weekend: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 and 16, Genesee Country Village and Museum, 1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford. Sample sweet and savory recipes and explore historical uses of chocolate around the historic village. Take a pop-up patisserie class, meet local chocolatiers and see costumed cooks at work. Museum admission when purchased online is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, $12 for ages 3 - 12, 2 and under free. gcv.org.

Taste of Wayne County: 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 19 at T. Spencer Knight Canal Park on VanBuren Street in Newark. Food-related businesses from around Wayne County will offer samples of signature dishes, food products and beverages. Advance sale individual tickets are $10 for 15 sampling tickets and one event glass and spork, or a couples pass is $15 for 20 sampling tickets, including two event glasses and sporks. Purchase online at tasteofwaynecounty.org. Individual tasting tickets may be purchased at the event for $1 each.

Jam on the Canal: 5 to 9 p.m. July 21 at Homesteads for Hope: 2185 Manitou Road in Ogden. Food truck rodeo and live music by Swagger. Tickets are $20 per person for nonmembers and free for members. Bring a lawn chair but leave the dog at home. Kids under 5 are free. Information, tickets at homesteadsforhope.org.

Sip & Stroll at Sunset: 7 p.m. July 22 at Wickham Farms, 1315 Sweets Corners Road, Penfield. Take a wagon ride to the farm's flower field; sip two glasses of wine, beer or a non-alcoholic beverage; enjoy a charcuterie table, fresh fruits & veggies, Caprese salad, Caesar wraps and a beef tenderloin tip slider. Cook your own s'mores. Pick a flower bouquet to take home. Adults only. Tickets, $80, must be purchased in advance at wickhamfarms.com.

Parma's Summer Smash and Food Truck Rodeo: 5 to 10 p.m. July 28 at Parma Town Park. More than 15 food trucks, outdoor fun, live music, an activity zone, community vendors, and fireworks. Free admission. More information on Facebook.

Le Dîner en Blanc: This posh picnic will be held Aug. 2 at a secret location downtown. Dress up all in white and pack a white table setting and a gourmet meal (or order one from Avvino). Cocktails start at 5 p.m. at La Bola at Mercantile on Main; Astor Jazz Lounge at the Hyatt; or Bar Bantam at the Metropolitan, and you'll be escorted to the event site. Puerto Rican Festival: Aug. 3 to 5 at Innovation Field. Enjoy live music, food, cultural events and more. Admission is free for everyone on Thursday and again from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Children ages 5 and younger are admitted free all three days. Ticket prices vary for the rest of the weekend; find more information at facebook.com/PRFEST/.
