English rock and blues singer/guitarist Eric Clapton is coming to Columbus.

The multi-Grammy Award-winning musician will kick off his North American concert tour on Sept. 8 in Value City Arena, West Lane Avenue and Olentangy River Road.

Clapton, known for hits such as "Layla," "Pretending," "Bad Love," Tears in Heaven" and "Lay Down Sally" is performing at only seven venues, and his touring band will include Doyle Bramhall II, Paul Carrack, Nathan East, Sonny Emory and Chris Stainton with Sharon White and Katie Kissoon on backing vocals. The show will feature Jimmie Vaughan as special guest.

The 77-year-old performer married Melia McEnery of Columbus in 2002.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum.
