The Rock Just Confirmed That 'Hobbs & Shaw 2' Is in the Works
Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that Hobbs & Shaw 2 is in development.
The actor hosted an Instagram Q&A over the weekend, where he confirmed that the 2019 Fast & Furious spin-off will get a sequel.
"We are developing now the next film, the next [Hobbs & Shaw] movie, and I'm pretty excited about it," he said.
"[We] just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we're going to go.
News of the Hobbs & Shaw sequel follows the forthcoming Fast & Furious 9 having its release date pushed back a year, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The movie, originally due for release in May, is now scheduled to hit cinemas in April 2021.
"It's become clear that it won't be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May," a statement read.
"While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration."
Hobbs & Shaw follows Luke Hobbs (Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), who form an unlikely alliance in order to take down the villainous Brixton (Idris Elba) and prevent him taking over humanity.
While a director has yet to be confirmed, fans can safely assume Johnson and Statham will return for a second run.
Hopefully, awkward blunders like this do not...
Fast & Furious 9 will be released in April 2021.
