Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has officially given Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and VP pick Kamala Harris his official endorsement in this year's election. While he has been outspoken on issues of racial equality this year and voiced his support for the Black Lives Matter movement, in addition to criticizing current leadership, this marks the first time the actor has ever explicitly, publicly endorsed a political candidate.

Johnson made the announcement in a post on Twitter this morning, in which he referred to his own status as a registered independent and longterm centrist, with a voting history on both sides of the political aisle, before emphatically backing Biden and Harris.

"I do believe that Vice-President Biden and Senator Harris are the best choice to lead our country, and I am endorsing them to become President and Vice-President of our United States," said Johnson in the video that accompanied the announcement, leading into a conversation that he had with both Biden and Harris via video chat.

During their conversation, Johnson asked Biden and Harris how they intend to earn the trust and respect of the American people should they win the election.

"By doing what we say we're going to do," replied Biden. "By keeping our word. By leveling with the American people, by taking responsibility. When we fail, acknowledge it. We're not going to be perfect, but take responsibility, say 'this is what I'm going to do, this is what I believe,' and tell the truth. It sounds so basic. But the American people are strong, they're tough, they can take anything if you level with them, and tell the truth... Our administration, DJ, is going to look like America, it's going to be representative of all of America."
