Rocker Chris Daughtry will bring an acoustic show to the Gallo Center for the arts, while Five For Fighting plays at the Turlock Community Theatre. Those are just two of the shows and events planned in the Modesto region from Sept. 9-15.
Chris Daughtry
The singer brings his “Daughtry: Bare Bones Tour” to the Gallo Center for the Arts. He will be joined in the acoustic concert by guest Ayron Jones. The rocker has sold more than 9 million albums and 16 million singles worldwide, according to the Gallo Center website. Limited tickets were available at press time.

Five for Fighting
John Ondrasik is the songwriter and performer known as Five For Fighting. He brings his show to the Turlock Community Theatre, performing with a string quartet. The platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated Five For Fighting is best known for its first major single, “Superman (It’s Not Easy).”

Picnic at the Pops
The Modesto Symphony Orchestra presents “Aretha: A Tribute,” with the music of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and more. The evening will feature the MSO led by Principal Pops Conductor Ryan Murray. Vocals will be by Broadway actress Capathia Jenkins along with Darryl J. Williams.

Micky Dolenz
The Gallo Center welcomes the show “The Monkees Celebrated By Micky Dolenz” to its stage. Dolenz, an actor-musician, was among the stars of the 1960s TV hit “The Monkees,” along with Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork. As a musical group, they sold out concert tours and had several hit songs. Dolenz will play selections from a new album box set, “Headquarters,” along with classic hits.

Bacon fest
The Modesto Bacon Festival returns with more than 30 bacon vendors, live music, other vendors, a cornhole tournament, face painters, a mechanical bull, line dancing and more. There also will be craft cocktails, beer and a full bar.

Sip & Stroll
You can Sip & Stroll through downtown Turlock this weekend, with plenty of places to enjoy wines and brews. There will be 17 tasting locations. Patrons will receive a wristband and souvenir tasting glass along with a map of participating businesses. Age 21 and older event. No alcohol allowed outside.
