If you missed last summer’s Modest Mouse concert — and it was a fun night — you’ve got another opportunity.

Arguably, an even better one.

Modest Mouse plans to return to the same outdoor venue — the Idaho Botanical Garden’s Outlaw Field — but with big-time friends this time. In a pairing of two monsters of indie-rock, the Mouse will join forces with the Pixies for a 7 p.m. concert on Monday, Sept. 4. (Yes, that’s Labor Day.)

A third veteran indie act, singer-songwriter Cat Power, will open the evening. The Pixies are slated to perform last.

Tickets become available to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday for $65 plus fees at Ticketmaster. Garden members, who will be able to purchase them earlier, pay $60.

Formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, Modest Mouse eventually struck mainstream gold with its 2004 album “Good News for People Who Love Bad News.” The catchy single “Float On” was nominated for a Grammy Award and permeated American culture. Other popular songs by the group include “Ocean Breathes Salty” — also from the “Good News” album — and “Dashboard” from 2007’s “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.”

The Pixies are alternative-rock royalty. Founded in 1986 in Boston, the band is credited with popularizing the explosive “soft-loud-soft” dynamics used by Nirvana, and for influencing countless other ’90s groups. Led by singer-guitarist Black Francis, the Pixies unleash plenty of sonic grime. But the band also is beloved for catchier, pop-laced music such as the single “Here Comes Your Man,” off 1989’s “Doolittle” album — which also produced the alt-radio hit “Monkey Gone to Heaven.”

This concert marks the sixth show scheduled at Outlaw Field. For more information, visit idahobotanicalgarden.com.
