Kick-start your heart when veteran rockers Mötley Crüe perform at the Iowa State Fair for the first time in August.

The heavy metal and rock act is responsible for enduring hits such as “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Dr. Feelgood” and “Shout at the Devil.” They'll perform on Aug. 14 at 8 p.m. for their first Iowa State Fair Grandstand show.

Mötley Crüe got its start in Los Angeles and features Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars. Joining the band at the Iowa State Fair is special guest and hard rock band Pop Evil of “Torn to Pieces” and “Footsteps” fame.

Since the band’s inception in the 1980s, Mötley Crüe has nabbed several Grammy nominations, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a movie — The 2019 biopic “The Dirt.”

Neil and his solo band performed a somewhat disastrous show at the Boone River Valley Festival in 2021, leading the singer to end the show early.

But back in the 1987, the band helped deliver an exceptional show, at least in gross receipts, at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, now known as the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines. A double bill of Mötley Crüe and Whitesnake set an all-time record for $209,500 in gross receipts, the Register reported in 2015. That was thanks to an audience of 14,041.
