Rockers sign Judy

Feb. 23—HIGH POINT — The High Point Rockers have re-signed right-handed pitcher Josh Judy, the team announced Monday.

Judy signed to play with the Rockers in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the season.

In 2019, he played with the York Revolution in the Atlantic League. He made 54 appearances in relief — totaling a 7-2 record, which was the second-most wins among non-starting pitchers, and a 3.20 ERA.

"Josh is a great addition to the backend of our bullpen," Rockers manager Jamie Keefe said in a release. "His experience in this league and his ability to get guys out makes him a go-to late in games for us. His interactions with the fans will also make him a crowd favorite from day one."

Judy played in the major leagues, making his debut with the Cleveland Indians on May 22, 2011, and appeared in 12 games that season. He has also spent time with the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners organizations.

He has a career record of 59-38 with 127 saves and a 3.25 ERA. He posted a career-best 23 saves with AAA Columbus in 2011.

LATIMORE TO PLAY IN ITALY: Quincy Latimore, who played with the Rockers in 2019 and has re-signed with the team this season, earlier this month signed with the Nettuno Baseball Club of the Italian Baseball League. The Rockers expect that he will rejoin the team when he returns from overseas. The Atlantic League is scheduled to begin play May 28.
