Rocket Mortgage plans give away $50,000 for every score in the Super Bowl

Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans is taking Super Bowl squares to another level.

To kick off their freshly inked multi-year deal with the NFL, the Detroit-based mortgage company announced this week that they’ll hold a million-dollar Super Bowl Squares Sweepstakes. The pool will give away $50,000 for every score change in the big game, up to 30 times.

As if giving away more than $1 million isn’t enough, Rocket also said it plans to award two grand prizes of $500,000 — one at halftime and another at the end of the game — that, in the company’s words, “could be used toward the purchase of their dream home.”

So, how do Super Bowl squares work? The basic premise of Rocket’s version goes like this:

Fans will initially choose one square on a 10-by-10 grid where one axis represents the last digit of the AFC team’s score while the other denotes that of the NFC. If the score change corresponds with the player’s square, Rocket enters their name into a drawing and randomly selects one person. Contestants can also earn more squares by sharing a unique link with family or friends.

Still not sure if it’s worth it? Consider a few stats. Super Bowl 52 had 19 lead changes while last year’s big game ended with five. That’s $1.95 and $1.25 million in winnings, respectively. Or, simply put, life-changing money.

Entry is free but contestants must be 18 or older and a legal U.S. resident. You must register on RocketMortgageSquares.com before the Jan. 30 cut-off date.

Rocket will randomly assign the numbers Jan. 31 and notify contestants by email soon after. Every person that fills out a grid will be automatically entered into the drawing for two grand prizes.

Winners will be announced throughout the game via the Rocket’s various social media accounts and RocketMortgageSquares.com.
