Who's going to state? Here are Rockford's girls track qualifiers

The Guilford Vikings advanced to state in seven events, the most in program history, as the track and field postseason kicked in with the Class 3A Huntley Sectional on Wednesday evening and the 2A Genoa-Kingston Sectional on Friday.

The Class 1A Winnebago Sectional was postponed due to lightning and adverse weather on Friday night, but it picked back up on Saturday, with lots from the area soaring on to state from that meet.

This elite Rockford Christian baseball recruit is a true throwback to the game

Justin Gorski first fell in love with baseball working on his home run trot as a 6-year-old at Harlem Community Center.

Eleven years later, Gorski doesn’t trot around the bases. He races around them. He has raced all the way to an NCAA Division I scholarship at Miami of Ohio. And he and leadoff hitter Devan Bruggeman have formed a fast tag team at the top of the order that has helped Rockford Christian race to second place in the Big Northern (14-6, 13-4 BNC).

Rockford Christian continues dominant run through girls soccer postseason

The Rockford Christian girls soccer team just keeps on pouring it on, winning its second regional title in a row, this time in dominant fashion with a 6-1 victory over Winnebago on Friday night.

Jada Harvey, the Royal Lions senior forward who has led the way throughout, had a goal and five assists, and she now has 28 goals and 24 assists on the season.

Christian continues its postseason run this week in the sectionals.
