Prairie Street Brewhouse expansion

One of Rockford's most popular breweries, Prairie Street Brewing Co., 200 Prairie St., is looking to expand with a new commercial space and a parking lot/gathering space with a solar-covered pavilion.

The city of Rockford's Planning and Development Committee has approved a redevelopment agreement with K & K Associates, LLC. – owners of Prairie Street Brewing Co.

The project consists of the renovating the "Coke Building" at 505 N. Madison St. into a building for event and entertainment businesses and turning the block to the south of the Coke Building into a parking lot/gathering and event space.

With a private investment of approximately $5 million, the City agrees to provide reimbursement of 100% of annual incremental taxes on a pay-as-you-go basis from the East River TIF for approved, TIF eligible redevelopment project costs. The City will also reimburse the developer for $250,000 for parking lot improvements to satisfy a previous City obligation and make infrastructure improvements along Madison Street.
