Stroll on State surprises

The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will hold a news conference Wednesday to announce the return of Stroll on State for its 11th year and new surprises for this year's event.

Stoll on State is held the Saturday after Thanksgiving on “Small Business Saturday.” It's a free event and features City of Rockford’s tree lighting, a parade, fireworks, musical performances and much more.

The news conference will be held at 1 p.m. at the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau,102 N. Main St. in Rockford.

Gift of Hope

Gift of Hope will honor Winnebago County emergency personnel who have given the gift of hope and health to others through their generous organ, eye & tissue donations.

A flag-raising ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 outside the Criminal Justice Center, 650 W. State St.

Campaign kickoff

Citizens for Judge Erik Jacobs has announced a campaign kickoff event for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Franchesco's Ristorante, 7128 Spring Creek Road, Rockford.

The event will feature appetizers, cash bar and an opportunity to engage with Jacobs.

Judge Jacobs was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Circuit Judge Joseph G. McGraw.
