Rockford police investigating shooting death of 21-year-old woman

ROCKFORD — A 21-year-old woman, one of three people shot early Sunday on the city's south side, is the city's ninth homicide victim.

Police responded about 2:45 a.m. to the 1400 block of Seminary Street and found a 21-year-old male and a 21-year-old female suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Another 21-year-old female was located near Spring Court and 15th Avenue suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

All three victims were transported to local hospitals.

On Sunday afternoon, the 21-year-old female, who sustained life-threatening injuries, was pronounced deceased, police said.

No arrest has been made.

The shooting incident was one of six different shootings the police department responded to from Thursday through Sunday.
