The Colorado Rockies claimed former Moeller High School standout Brent Suter on Friday off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers ahead of the deadline for MLB teams to tender contracts to unsigned players.

Suter, Milwaukee's longest-tenured player after spending all seven of his MLB seasons with the Brewers, was among 18 players on the team eligible for salary arbitration.

Suter posted a 3.51 ERA in 196 regular-season appearances for Milwaukee. A Harvard graduate with a degree in environmental science and public policy, Suter has worn National Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente's No. 21 with the Clemente family's blessing, and was the Brewers' nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award three times.
