Rockland Township church to mark its 275th anniversary

Sep. 10—Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Rockland Township, will mark its 275th anniversary on Sept. 18.

To celebrate, a worship service will be held at 9 a.m. with a Pennsylvania German inspired sermon. Church artifacts and memorabilia will be on display, and there will be cemetery tours.

Food will be available at noon, followed by music by the James Supra Band and games until 3 p.m.

German speaking immigrants worshiped along Biebers Creek, currently known as the village of Dryville. A log cabin church was erected 1747 on land donated by Henry Mertz.

In 2018, with a growing community and congregation, the church went through a major renovation to create its current worship site.

The Rev. Martin A. Milne serves as pastor.
