Rockland, Westchester to show support for Israel with vigil, rally

Two Hudson Valley events will be held Oct. 10 to show solidarity and support for Israel in the wake of Saturday's Hamas attacks on that country.

At 6:45 p.m. on the front entrance steps of the Rockland County Courthouse in New City a candlelight vigil will be held, sponsored by the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County and the Rockland County Jewish community.

The foundation notes that Rockland County accounts for the highest Jewish population density in the U.S., with many residents having strong family ties to Israel.

At 8 p.m. at Temple Israel Center of White Plains, the Westchester Jewish Council will be sponsoring a countywide solidarity rally, which will also be livestreamed.

The council asks attendees to register for either the in-person or virtual event. Furthermore, those attending in person are asked not to bring backpacks, signs, or banners.
