Rockland woman accused in Hingham crash that killed police officer is due back in court

PLYMOUTH − A pretrial hearing for a Rockland woman accused of being drunk and high in a car crash that killed an off-duty Randolph police officer is scheduled for Friday in Plymouth Superior Court.

A trial date has not been set for the woman, Kaleigh Davidson, 36, who is facing charges related to the May 14, 2022, crash in Hingham that killed Michael Beal, 61, of Norwell, a 35-year veteran of the Randolph police force.

State Police say Davidson was driving over 100 mph and under the influence of alcohol, Suboxone, benzodiazepines and marijuana at the time of the crash near Exit 35 on Route 3.

Beal was on his way to pick up his wife, Carol. They were planning to attend their youngest daughter's graduation from nursing school.

Davidson pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in February. She is charged with vehicular manslaughter while drunken driving, vehicular manslaughter while drugged driving, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60 years old.

Although prosecutors asked that Davidson be held on $50,000 cash bail, the judge released her on the conditions that she refrain from driving, remain drug and alcohol free with random screenings, stay away and have no contact with the victim’s family, wear a GPS monitoring ankle bracelet and remain in Massachusetts.
