Rockville administrator resigns, 2 city officials on paid leave

ROCKVILLE ― Rockville City Administrator Martin Bode submitted a letter of resignation to the Rockville City Council on Friday. During a special city council meeting Monday, the council formally accepted his resignation.

The council also approved paid leave for two other city officials, Administrative Assistant Debbie VanHeel and Finance Clerk Judy Neu.

Mayor Duane Willenbring said there will be a council workshop at 5 p.m. Wednesday followed by a city council meeting at 6 p.m. to discuss more details.

Willenbring said Bode's resignation letter had conditions. On Monday, the council proposed a counter-condition, but as of Tuesday at 4 p.m., had not heard if Bode accepted the council's conditions. If Bode does, his resignation would take place immediately, Willenbring said.

Willenbring said he could not discuss any more details about the resignation or the paid leave, but said details should be "a lot more clear," after Wednesday's meeting.
