Rockville Rotary’s 3rd Annual Fall Family Fest set for Oct. 8

The Rotary Club of Rockville is preparing for it’s 3rd Annual Fall Family Fest, which will be held at the Ellington Senior Center, on Oct. 8.

The event first took place in 2019, and had a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic. It was held again last fall, and the Rotary members said this year’s event is looking like it will be the biggest yet, as it coincides with the club’s 75th anniversary.

“It’s a great community event,” said Rotarian Lucy Clark. “We’re looking forward to celebrating our 75th and it’s a great way to ring in the fall. It provides a great opportunity for families to celebrate autumn while supporting worthy local causes such as KIDSAFE, Cornerstone, HVCC, and the YMCA.”

About a half dozen food trucks are confirmed, including Chick-fil-A, Adam Ice Cream, Kona Ice of Manchester, and Request-A-Chef, and more are being added. Lawn games will be provided by the Indian Valley YMCA.

Admission to the event is free, and dozens of vendors will be on hand, with jewelry, soaps, candles, beauty items, and other homemade crafts.

This family-friendly event will feature great music, food, classic cars, and the opportunity for kids to explore a fire truck. New this year, a “Spin the Wheel” game will offer participants the chance to win fall-themed prizes, such as apple doughnuts and pies.

Proceeds from “Spin the Wheel” will be donated directly to local food pantries, including the Cornerstone Foundation and Hockanum Valley Community Council (HVCC). Additional funds raised will help local and international charities provide shelter, medical care, clean water, and childcare to those in most need.

Established in 1947, the Rotary Club of Rockville celebrates 75 years serving the Ellington, Tolland, and Vernon, Connecticut communities. The organization supports many local service projects, including college scholarships for local high-school seniors, funding and serving holiday meals for less-fortunate families, local food drives, and literacy education. It also contributes to several overseas projects, including Guatemalan water wells and polio eradication.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ellington Senior Center, 40 Maple St. in Ellington.
