Rockwall Lady Jackets lead way on All-District 10-6A softball team
Jun. 22—Rockwall's 30-6-1 Lady Jackets claimed three of the top honors on the All-District 10-6A softball team.
Pitcher Ainsley Pemberton earned the most valuable player award. Pemberton led Rockwall on the mound and was one of the team's top hitters.
The defensive player of the year award went to Rockwall catcher Laci Larsen. Larsen sparked the defense and was also among the team's top hitters.
Rockwall's Leah Campbell, who led the Lady Jackets to district, bi-district and area championships, was named the coach of the year.
Rockwall infielder Rylie Swindall and Rockwall outfielders Ava Wallace, Rachel Lawyer and Zoe Quinn made the first team.
Rockwall infielders Presley Brott and Abrianna Kennedy made the second team.
Rockwall-Heath infielder Emmy Apodaca and outfielder Taylor Scott made the first team. Heath outfielder Kelsey Fox was selected to the second team.
Royse City senior Jenna Joyce was named the offensive player of the year and Royse City freshman Bri Duffy was selected as the newcomer of the year.
Joyce batted .588 for the season with six home runs, 20 doubles and 49 runs batted in. She has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Texas A&M-Commerce.
Duffey batted .443 for the season with 10 homers, 12 doubles and 46 runs batted in.
Sara Eckert of Tyler Legacy was named the pitcher of the year.
The catcher of the year award went to Legacy's Mallory Kniffen.
