Rod Stewart has revealed he has fallen out with Elton John over comments he made about his “money-grabbing” farewell tour.

During a March 2018 appearance on the US talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Stewart said that John’s farewell tour “stinks of selling tickets”.

“If I retire, I won’t make an announcement,” Stewart said. “I’ll just fade away. I don’t think this is a big deal, it stinks of selling tickets.”

He continued, “It’s dishonest. It’s not rock and roll.”

Now, Stewart has said that he and John are in the middle of a “spat” over his comments.

“I do love Elton, only we’re not talking at the moment,” Stewart told Scottish radio, according to The Telegraph.

“We’ve had a spat, because I criticised his tour as being money-grabbing.”

John is about to begin the fourth leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which began in September 2018 and is due to wrap up with three nights at London’s O2 Arena in December 2020.
