Highlighted programs

Alliance Vinyl Club – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The club will welcome special guest Bob Ethington during its January meeting at Rodman Public Library. Alliance Vinyl Club provides the opportunity to listen to music, talk and hang out, and usually meets at 6:30 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month in the Main Auditorium. January’s meeting is the fourth Wednesday to accommodate Ethington’s schedule. The musician recently retired after 35 years as a library manager for the Akron-Summit County Public Library. He is to play some of his favorite records and give an informal talk about his experiences. Visitors are also welcome to bring a few of their own favorite records. Due to time limitations, only a few selections per person will be played. A turntable will be provided, but Rodman officials ask that you handle your records and assume any liability for normal wear and scratches. No registration is required. Family Strategy Gaming – 5:30 p.m. Feb. 1. A variety of board games are available to play during monthly events. A different board game is featured each month so visitors can learn to play new games. Card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering are also available. Families are welcome to bring their own board games and cards to play. Rodman says the purpose of the event is to gather with others to play, have fun and make new friends. Snacks will be offered. No registration needed. Ongoing programs

Wee Read – 6:30 p.m. Mondays; and 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays. Rodman Public Library offers Wee Read for children ages birth to age 2 and their parents or caregivers. Wee Read includes stories, fingerplays, music and movement. No registration is required. For more information, call the Main Library Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Family Fun Night – 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Parents or caregivers and children ages 3 to 12 are invited to participate in an entertaining and educational evening in Rodman Main Children’s Department. In addition to stories, participants break into small groups and visit various stations where they will play games, complete challenges and create crafts that provide fun for all ages. Storytime – 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, and 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays during Family Fun Nights. Children ages 3-5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. Storytime sessions encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement and activities. For more information, contact the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Tech Time Thursday – 11 a.m. Thursdays. Rodman Public Library continues schedule a librarian to answer basic questions about your computer or electronic devices, such as cellphones, laptops and tablets. No registration is needed. Teen Anime Club – 3 p.m. Tuesday. Ages 12 to 18 are invited to Rodman Public Library on the last Tuesday of each month for Teen Anime Club. Teens will have the chance to pick their favorite episodes to be shown on RPL’s big screen. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.

Teen Writing Club – 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Teens who have an interest in writing are encouraged to join the club that meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Main Library. Have fun meeting with your fellow teen writers to exchange ideas, hone your skills and share your work, if desired. No registration is required. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.

Teen Gaming – 3 p.m. Thursday. Ages 12 to 18 are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii & WiiU. Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level, will be offered.
