Featured programs

Polar Express – 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Children and their families are invited to join the staff of Rodman Library’s Children’s Department on a trip to the North Pole. The run will be offered four times. “The Polar Express,” written by Chris Van Allsburg, will be read, and passengers should be prepared for surprises along the way. Pajamas are encouraged, but not required. Registration is required for each person attending (children and adults) at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup. Ongoing programs

Knit Wits – 10 a.m. Monday. The KnitWits, a circle for needleworkers of all types and skill levels, meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Main Library. The group is always seeking new members and donations of yarn. For more information, call 330-821-2665.

Holiday Storytime at the Branch – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Series concludes with Rudolph Week, and children will make reindeer food and play a reindeer game. Children will also hear stories, sing songs, and learn fun holiday facts. No registration is necessary, and Storytime is open to children of all ages and is intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement and activities. Teen Writing Club – 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Teens who have an interest in writing are encouraged to join the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Main Library. Have fun meeting with your fellow teen writers to exchange ideas, hone your skills and share your work, if desired. No registration is required. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.

Alliance Vinyl Club – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Club is open to all music lovers and will feature Christmas music. Those attending are encouraged to bring in some of their favorite holiday-themed records to share with others. There is no formal membership and no registration is required to attend. Vinyl Club provides the opportunity to listen to music, talk, hang out and make new friends. For more information, call the 330-821-2665, ext. 216.

Tech Time Thursday – 11 a.m. Thursdays. Rodman Public Library continues to offer Tech Time Thursday every Thursday at the Main Library from 11 a.m. to noon. During that hour, a librarian is on hand to answer basic questions about your computer or electronic devices, such as cellphones, laptops and tablets. No registration required. Teen Gaming – 3 p.m. Thursday. Ages 12-18 are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 3, 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo WiiU. Remaining December sessions will be Thursday and Dec. 29 in the Main Auditorium. Teens will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level will be offered. No registration is required for these free gaming events. Book clubs

Books and Coffee at the Branch – 6:30 p.m. Monday. Club meets every second Monday of the month at Rodman Branch Library. Led by Charlene Duro, the selected title for December will be “The Christmas Sweater,” by Glenn Beck. For more information, call 330-821-1313.

Teen Book Club – 4 p.m. Dec. 19. Club meets the third Monday of each month in the conference room at the Main Library. Led by Jaime Gross, the selected title for December is “You’ve Reached Sam,” by Dustin Thao. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.

RPL Evening Book Club – 6 p.m. Dec. 19. Club will meet a week earlier than usual due to the library’s holiday schedule. The December selection is “A Redbird Christmas,”by Fannie Flagg. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 107.

True Crime Junkies – 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20. Book discussion group led by reference librarian Ashley Mock meets the third Tuesday of the month at the Main Library. The December selection is “Kitty Genovese: The Murder, The Bystannders, The Crime that Changed America,” by Kevin Cook. Kids Book Club – 4:15 p.m. Dec. 21. RPL invites children ages 8-12 to join the third Wednesday of each month. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” by Roald Dahl is the selected title for December. Led by Stacy Digianantonio, meetings include a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack.
