Christmas Movie Series – 5:30 p.m.Monday.Rodman Library’s Christmas Movie Series concludes with the screening of a 1983 family comedy that stars Peter Billingsley as a young boy in the 1940s who attempts to convince his parents, teacher, and even Santa Claus, that a Red Ryder Range 200-shot BB gun really is the perfect Christmas gift. Also starring Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin, the film is rated PG and runs 93 minutes. The event is free and fresh-popped popcorn will be given out thanks to Friends of Rodman Library. No registration is needed to attend the event, which is open to all ages. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 330-821-2665.
Hot Pots Storytime – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; or 11 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Branch.Christmas trees will be the theme. Children ages 3-12 will visit the Branch for a mini-storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a tree figurine with non-toxic glazes. Cost is $15 per child, and registration is required. Fee is payable to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com. Tree will be ready for pickup five days after kiln firing. Holiday Party – 2 p.m. Dec. 3.The publicis invited to join Rodman Public Library, the Alliance High School Choralaires and Santa Claus for a holiday get-together. At the conclusion of the Choralaires’ performance, they will introduce Santa Claus, who will greet the children. Santa will be available for photos and will pass out a treat. Holiday Storytime at the Branch – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. It’s Christmas Cookie Week, and children will decorate cookies. Children will also hear stories, sing songs and learn fun holiday facts. Books and Coffee – 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Branch.Club meets every second Monday of the month at the Rodman Branch Library. Led by Charlene Duro, the selected title for December will be “The Christmas Sweater,” by Glenn Beck. For more information, call 330-821-1313.

True Crime Junkies – 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20.Book discussion group led by reference librarian Ashley Mock meets at the third Tuesday of the month at the Main Library. The December selection is “Kitty Genovese: The Murder, The Bystannders, The Crime that Changed America,” by Kevin Cook. Kids Book Club – 4:15 p.m. Dec. 21.RPL invites children ages 8-12 to join the third Wednesday of each month. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” by Roald Dahl, is the selected title for December. Led by Stacy Digianantonio, Kids Book Club meetings include a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack.
