Featured programs

Christmas Movie Series – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Series kicks off with the screening of a 1954 musical comedy starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen in which a successful song-and-dance team becomes romantically involved with a sister act and they team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. (Due to licensing agreements, the library can not divulge the names of movie titles in the mainstream media). The event is free and fresh-popped popcorn will be given out, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library. No registration is needed to attend the event, which is open to all ages. Alliance Vinyl Club – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Alliance Vinyl Club will welcome special guest Chris Butler, an Akron native with a musical career spanning nearly five decades who is best known as the driving force behind the 1980s new wave band The Waitresses. Those attending are encouraged to bring in some of their favorite records to spin on the turntable. The club, which usually meets every fourth Wednesday of the month, is meeting on the third Wednesday in November due to Thanksgiving. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 216.

Celebrate Pokemon – 4 p.m. Friday. To mark the launch of the new video game Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Rodman Public Library will host an afternoon of Pokémon fun. Attendees will not be playing the new video game, but will play other games and take part in other Pokémon-related activities. Registration is required at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup. Ongoing programs

Knit Wits – 10 a.m. Monday. The KnitWits, a circle for needleworkers of all types and skill levels, meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Main Library. The group is always seeking new members and donations of yarn. For more information, call 330-821-2665.

Teen Dungeons and Dragons – 5:30 p.m. Monday. Ages 12-18 can sign up to participate in an ongoing series of “one-shot” Dungeons and Dragons missions every month based on the “Candlekeep Mysteries” sourcebook. Space will be limited each month to six players. A DnD Beyond account and email address is required to play. Registration is required at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup. Holiday Storytime at the Branch – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.Five weeks of Holiday Storytime at the Branch kicks off with Turkey Week, when children will make turkey costumes from paper bags. During each week, children will hear stories, sing songs, learn fun holiday facts and take part in a special activity. No registration is necessary. Events are open to children of all ages and are intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement, and activities. For more information, call 330-821-1313.

Tech Time Thursday – 11 a.m. Thursdays. A Rodman librarian is available each week at the Main Library to answer basic questions about your computer or electronic devices, such as cellphones, laptops and tablets. No registration required. Teen Gaming – 3 p.m. Thursday. Ages 12-18 are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo WiiU. Teens will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level will be offered. Book clubs

Books and Coffee – 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Branch. Club meets the second Monday of the month at Rodman Branch Library. Led by Charlene Duro, the selected title for November will be “Going There,” by Katie Couric. For more information, call 330-821-1313.

True Crime Junkies – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Book discussion group led by reference librarian Ashley Mock meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Main Library. The November selection is “Hell’s Half-Acre: The Untold Story of The Benders, A Serial Killer Family on the American Frontier,” by Susan Jonusas. Kids Book Club – 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. RPL invites children ages 8-12 to join the Kids Book Club, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month. “The Fourteenth Goldfish” by Jennifer L. Holm is the selected title for November. Led by Stacy Digianantonio, Kids Book Club meetings include a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack.
