Rodman Library offers programs for children, adults
Kids Gaming schedule altered for three months
Due to scheduling conflicts, Kids Gaming at Rodman Public Library will be offered on days other than the usual first Wednesday of the month during February, March, and April.
Program dates will be Feb. 2; March 2; and April 12. All Kids Gaming sessions run 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Rodman Public Library Auditorium.
Children ages 8 to 12 are treated to open play of video games, Minecraft, etc., on devices provided by the library. Registration is not required for the free event. For information, contact the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
Take Your Child to the Library on Feb. 4
Caregivers are urged to bring little ones in for a visit on Feb. 4, which is Take Your Child to the Library Day.
Several literacy stations and games will be set up throughout the children’s area from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Main Library. A craft table also will be available, along with a “photo booth” where families can take pictures.
At 2 p.m., family BINGO will be played in the auditorium, and children’s prizes will be awarded to the winners. Only children will be given BINGO cards.
All activities are free. Registration is required for all wishing to attend BINGO (children and adults) at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup.

RPL Branch plans storytime with Hot Pots
Rodman Public Library Branch will host a Valentine Storytime with Hot Pots on Feb. 8 and Feb. 11.
Two identical sessions are planned, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8, and 11 a.m. Feb. 11.
Those ages 3-12 will come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a heart tealight candle luminary with non-toxic glazes.

Kids crafting program at Main Library
Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues Feb. 9, when children ages 7-12 are invited to decorate an 11-inch by 11-inch wooden heart. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is required at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup. RPL to screen Marvel blockbuster
Rodman Public Library will host a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Main Auditorium.
In the film, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M'Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their kingdom from intervening world powers in the wake of King T'Challa’s death. Due to licensing agreements, Rodman Library cannot disclose the title of the film in the mass media.
The film, which runs 2 hours, 41 minutes, is rated PG-13. No registration is required to attend, but children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Trivia night planned for teens at RPL
Ages 12-18 are invited to Trivia Night at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at Rodman Public Library.
Teens in teams of three or four will compete in a trivia contest of random questions in games based on the format of popular game shows such as “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!”
The teams also will be scored on a scavenger hunt in which they will be tasked in finding things around the library. The team with the top combined score at the end of the night will receive a prize.

Get to know your fruit at RPL
Just like humans, each type of fruit is unique, and every type of whole-food offers your body different possible health benefits.
Rodman Public Library invites patrons to get to know their fruit a little better from the inside out when Holly Bandy of the Ohio State University Extension’s College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Science, presents “Know Your Fruit” at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 20.
Key points of the hour-long presentation will include health benefits, servings, and preparation and storage of fruit. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample a healthy, fruity treat.
