Rodney Terry remembers dad in March Madness feature video before Texas vs. Colgate game

A feature video on Texas interim men's basketball head coach Rodney Terry was shared on TBS just prior to the team's opening NCAA Tournament game against Colgate in Des Moines.

In the video, Terry talks about his father, Calvin Philips, passing away last August. Like his son, Philips was also a basketball coach, coaching over the course of 40 years at multiple high schools across Texas.

Terry dedicated this season to his father, saying "he would be super excited about what's going on right now."

Terry added that he wears his father's Rolex watch and drives his Jeep so he can still feel close to him, both on the bench during games and on the way to the Texas campus.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I (think) I'd be back at the University of Texas coaching," Terry said, noting his previous tenure as an assistant with the Longhorns under Rick Barnes. "When I became head coach, it was a dream come true."
