Roland-Story sports round-up: Norsemen boys track team takes third at Roland-Story quad meet

The Roland-Story boys track team took third at the Roland-Story quadrangular co-ed track meet April 3 in Gilbert and fifth at the Nevada Co-ed Invitational April 6 in Nevada.

The Norsemen scored 70.7 points at the quad and 69 at Nevada.

The Roland-Story girls also competed in both meets. They placed fourth at the Roland-Story meet with 65 points and sixth at Nevada with 69.

The Roland-Story girls golf team placed second at the West Marshall triangular April 3 at the Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center with a score of 190, coming in just one stroke behind West Marshall's winning score. Results for the meet were not available at press deadline.

Here is what we learned from this week's Roland-Story high school track action.

Roland-Story boys win two events during the week

The Roland-Story boys track team won one gold medal at each meet during the week.

At the Roland-Story quad Kale Lande took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.82 seconds. Lande also joined with Hesston Johnson, Dillon Lettow and Gavin Carpenter to take second in the 4X400 relay with a 3:38.98 showing and Ben Greenfield, Brayden Kilstofte and Johnson to win a silver in the 4X800 after running an 8:38.00.

Lettow, Heston McIlrath and Connor Morton placed second in the 4X200 with a time of 1:34.34 and Luke Patton, Lettow, McIlrath and Carpenter took third in the 4X100 after finishing in 45.82. Patton, Parker Curtis, Greenfield and Boaz Clark won bronze in the distance medley with a 4:04.27 showing and Patton, Logan Crank, Jake Berggren and Lucas Wuebker took third in the shuttle hurdle with a 1:12.91 showing.

Curtis was third in the high jump with a jump of five feet, four inches, Jake Jennings third in the discus with a throw of 118-5 and Patrick Gonzales third in the shot with a toss of 43-2. Evan Voga placed second in the 3,200 with a time of 11:49.89 and Patton was third in the 110 high hurdles after crossing the finish line in 17.92.

At Nevada the Norsemen 4X400 team of McIlrath, Johnson, Greenfield and Lande won in 3:32.13. McIlrath, Patton, Tom Seversike and Curtis took third in the 4X100 with a time of 45.98 and Lettow, Trevor Britten, Berggren and Morton won bronze in the 4X200 after clocking in at 1:3861.

Norse girls win five events at Roland-Story quad

The Roland-Story girls track team won five events at the Roland-Story quad meet.

Laurel Osborn won the girls' long jump with a distance of 14-3 and Selah Helgeson was first in the 100 hurdles with a 17.29 showing. Adalyn Sporleder, Kennedy Petersen, Kamryn Lande and Lauryn Kilstofte won the sprint medley in 1:56.13 and that same quartet won the 4X200 1:50 flat.

Caitlyn Flattebo, Carly Halstead, Jaclyn Gessner and Helgeson won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:17.58. Alli Janes, Elizabeth Ihle, Mary Britten and Kilstofte took second in the 4X400 after clocking in at 4:32.32 and Mckenzie Crutchfield, Reagan Faber, Britten and Ihle earned a silver medal in the distance medley with a 4:49.68 showing.

Claire Truesdell was runner-up in the 3,000 run after completing the race in 11:45.80.

At Nevada the Norse girls picked up one gold and silver medal apiece plus two bronze medals.

Lande won the 200 dash with a time of 27.39. Petersen won silver in the high jump with a jump of 4-10 and Helgeson was third in the 100 hurdles after finishing the race in 17.27.

The Norse sprint medley team of Sporleder, Petersen, Lande and Kilstofte also placed third in 1:55.34.
