'Roll Rams Roll': Marshfield High Class of 2022 has a lot to be proud of
MARSHFIELD – The 318 graduating seniors walked onto James G. Anderson Field at Marshfield High School carrying pale yellow carnations, an homage to their now alma mater, on Saturday, June 4.
Before students reminisced about their years together during the graduation ceremony, they stood for the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of remembrance for the lives lost in the Uvalde, Texas, school massacre last month.
Class President Lily Reardon then took the stage to welcome guests. She reminded students of senior sunrise on Sept. 1, a memory she said she will never forget. Reardon shared other memories that connect the senior class, from football games to prom to senior sunset.

"While the sun may be setting on this chapter of our lives, a new day, a new sunrise and our future are waiting for us," Reardon said.
Class Secretary Amelia Hogan introduced the invited guests and Charles Simpson read the class poem, "The Crossroads." Class Treasurer Peter Nelson presented the class gift of flower pots and a sign for the senior lunch area. Class Vice President recognized class advisers Diane Leone and Jennifer Worden and Class Historian Olivia Braun recognized yearbook dedicatees Samantha Alongi and Devin Torossian. Throughout the ceremony, members of the Marshalairs performed heart-felt songs.

Honor essayists Samuel Ryan, the valedictorian; Sydney McCabe, the salutatorian; and Blake Horne, the honor medalist, spoke to their classmates.
Ryan's piece, titled "One Day at a Time," paid tribute to his mother's philosophy. Horne talked about overcoming obstacles and being grateful for support. McCabe shared the experience of her college roommate dilemma and her strong ties to Marshfield.
"As I watched the slideshow of the Class of '22 on the screens in the hallway during the last day of school, I felt so proud of this class for coming so far," McCabe said. "It's reassuring to remember that each of us will take a piece of Marshfield with us."
Superintendent of Schools Jeffery Granatino said the class stepped up to meet every challenge.

"This group of talented individuals have worked with so many of the curveballs that have come their way and they never flinched, they never stopped moving forward and they never stopped doing what was right," Granatino said.
Marshfield High School Principal Robert Keuther talked about the triumphs of the Class of 2022, 87% of whom made the honor roll. He said 180 members received awards and scholarships during senior awards night and collectively received $2.4 million from colleges, scholarships and grants.
"You've been challenged to dream that we're better together and to be the best that you can be," Keuther said. "You stood and said, 'Roll Rams Roll,' and boy you have rolled."
