Rolling rally for North High champs begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, ending with Polar Park event

WORCESTER — The North High School championship boys' basketball team will be honored Sunday with a rolling rally through part of the city.

The two-hour celebration begins at 1 p.m., with the players boarding a duck boat at North High on Harrington Way and traveling to Polar Park on Madison Street, with brief rallies along the way.

The Polar Bears captured the state Division 1 boys' basketball crown with a 73-64 victory over Needham last Sunday.

The team will receive a police escort and travel the route in the open-air Beantown Betty duck boat.

There are two places the rolling rally will make a stop, giving fans a good look at the players: Plumley Village and Polar Park, where a trophy presentation is planned.

Rally route

● Depart: North High School, 140 Harrington Way

● Harrington Way to Plantation Street

● Plantation Street to Belmont Street (Route 9)

● Belmont Street to Goldsberry Street (behind Worcester Police Department)

● Goldsberry Street (behind WPD) and Plumley Village (tribute to fallen police officers and NHS alumni; home to many current NHS students.)

● Summer Street to Washington Square (Union Station)

● Washington Square to Grafton Street to Temple Street

● Temple Street to Green Street

● Green Street to Polar Park

● Main Event: Polar Park, 100 Madison St.
