Rollmans celebrating 55th anniversary

PETERSBURG – Rodger T. and Janice M. Rollman of Petersburg are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary today.

Mr. Rollman married Janice Ready of Monroe Oct. 11, 1968, at St. John Catholic Church in Monroe.

They have two children, Randolph of Maryland and Kendra (Scott) Dafoe of Petersburg, and three grandsons.

Mr. Rollman is 1959 graduate of Bedford High School, where he was played football, basketball and baseball and ran track. He served in the Army, 1962-1963, at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he completed armor radio maintenance certification. He also served at Fort Hood, Texas. In 1963, her was part of Operation Exercise Big Lift, deployed from Texas to Germany. Mr. Rollman completed his Army Reserve obligation in 1968.

He attended Indiana University and Monroe County Community College and completed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW apprenticeship. He is member of IBEW Local 8 Rossford, Ohio, and worked as an electrician for more than 30 years, retiring in 2000. Before becoming an electrician, he was employed at Clinton Products, E R Zeiler Excavating and Sharon Manufacturing. He is a member of American Legion Post 192 in Temperance.

Mrs. Rollman is a 1965 graduate of St. Mary Academy, Monroe. In 1968 she earned a registered nurse diploma from Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo. In 1988 she received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Toledo. In 1993, she earned a Master of Science degree in nursing from Medical College of Ohio at Toledo.

She was employed by former Mercy and Memorial (ProMedica Monroe Regional) hospitals, working in medical surgical units, supervision, operating room, recovery room, ambulatory surgical unit, home care and staff development, retiring as the hospital education director in 2005. For 12 years she was an adjunct professor at Monroe County Community College's Health Science Division and was coordinator for the Certified Nurse Aide Program, retiring in 2016.

The couple enjoys attending their grandsons' athletic events, visiting Michigan casinos, canning tomatoes, attending monthly dinners with their "Party Group" and playing euchre at Post 514, American Legion of Ida.
