Roman Kemp has revealed he tried out for Strictly Come Dancing but decided it was too much hard work.

The radio DJ said he was approached by show bosses so went along to audition.

He had a blast but soon realised that competing on the Strictly dancefloor would take plenty of effort.

Roman spilled the beans as he appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show alongside his dad, Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp.

Martin was asked if he’d like to try the ballroom contest and said he would, although he guessed he would be out in the first round because his “knees are so bad”.

Roman chimed in: “I would like to do it, they did ask me.

“I ended up going, it’s like an audition… if I’m totally honest, I had a great time, but it’s too much effort.”

“It’s so hard. It’s so hard,” he added.

The 28-year-old also joked that he would only sign up for the BBC programme if he could dance with professional Oti Mabuse, who was also a guest on Jonathan Ross’s show.

While Strictly apparently isn’t for Roman, it was another reality TV show that saw him really make a name for himself.

The star has been presenting on the radio and TV for several years but was thrust into the limelight when he took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2019.

Roman came third in the competition, finishing behind runner up Andy Whyment and Queen of the Jungle Jacqueline Jossa.
