Romanians Gather at Their Windows to Celebrate Orthodox Easter During Lockdown

Orthodox Christians celebrated Easter on April 19 as the coronavirus pandemic forced worshipers around the world to alter their plans.

In the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca, people lit candles and gathered at their windows on the night of April 18 to listen to a service on the street below.

In this video, a priest, using a megaphone, calls out “Christ is risen,” while his congregants reply “Indeed, he is risen,” according to a Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty translation.
